3 Special Police Officers among 7 killed,30 injured in J and K

Srinagar, Apr 25 (UNI) Three Special Police Officers (SPOs) and as many militants, including two self styled commanders were among seven people killed and 30 injured in Jammu and Kashmir overnight.

Security forces and police arrested three militants including a woman over ground worker of militants Dilshada Banoo in the state during the period, sources said.

The woman militant supporter was arrested along with one wireless set at Rajpora Zachaldara in the frontier district of Kupwara last night.

An official spokesman said militants attacked the guards posted at the residence of Lok Jan Shakti party leader Shashi Kumar Kesri at Arnora under police station Doda late last night. The guards also retaliated and in the exchange of fire two SPOs Rishi Kumar and Davinder Kumar were killed. Militants later managed to escape, he said.

Militants also took away the service weapons including one AK rifle and three magzines of the deceased SPOs.

He said a SPO Balwant Singh, who was injured in a grenade blast at Sazan in Doda district recently succumbed to injuries in the hospital.

Security forces gunned down two militant 'commanders' in separate encounters at Dessa Sumber and Gulabgarh in Udhampur district last night. Two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were seized from the slain militants.
