26 lakh tonne wheat arrives in Haryana mandis
Chandigarh, Apr 25 (UNI) A total of 26.17 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of wheat has already arrived in Haryana mandis so far this season.
Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said the six government agencies engaged in the procurement of wheat in the state had procured 20.90 lakh MTs of a total of 26.17 lakh MTs of the produce till yesterday.
Hafed was leading in procurement by purchasing 7.83 lakh MTs of wheat followed by Food and Supplies Department by procuring 4.62 lakh MTs. Haryana Agro Industries procured 2.24 lakh MTs, FCI 2.61 lakh MTs, Haryana Warehousing Corporation over two lakh MTs and Confed 1.57 lakh MTs.
Mr Chander Mohan said that Kaithal district was ahead in the arrival of wheat with 4.47 lakh MTs followed by Karnal with 4.24 lakh MTs, Fatehabad 3.43 lakh MTs, Kurukshetra 3.20 lakh MTs, Jind 3.19 lakh tonnes and Sirsa 2.67 lakh MTs.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Minister hailed the decision of Prime Ministe Manmohan Singh for providing Rs 50 per quintal as bonus to the farmers for the purchase of their wheat.
He said with this announcement the farmers of the state would get additional income in crores of rupees.
