Gujarat, MP have rehabilitated all SSP PAPs: Vyas

Ahmedabad, Apr 24 (UNI) Countering NBA activist Medha Patkar's claim, Narmada Abhiyaan's Executive Chairman Jaynarayan Vyas today claimed that all persons affected due to raising of dam height from 110 mts to 121 mts have already been rehabilitated by the Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh Governments.

However, he admitted that some of the rehabilitation sites were lacking in few basic facilities but such problems could easily be sorted out without stopping the construction works.

Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Vyas said that to counter the anti-dam propaganda by the Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) activists, a delegation of Narmada Abhiyaan has gone to Madhya Pradesh for a week.

The delegation will apprise the PAPs, media, politicians and the common man about the projects, Mr Vyas said and added that the power generated by Sardar Sarovar Project will benefit that Madhya Pradesh Government to the tune of Rs 24,000-crore per annum.

The delegation has so far visited Indore and its surrounding places. It will visit Bhopal, Badwani and other places.

To a question, Mr Vyas said both the ruling BJP and Opposition Congress should not politicise the issue. He welcomed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's stand on the issue.
