AIADMK urges EC to ensure non-violation of code of conduct
Pondicherry, Apr 24 (UNI) Alleging that the Government had violated the model code of conduct in elections by ordering its several departments to ensure arrangements for the AICC President Sonia Gandhi, during her visit here, AIADMK State Secretary A Anbazhagan today urged the intervention of the Election Commission(EC) in the issue.
Talking to newspersons here, he said his party would go for a complaint with the Commission.
Ms Gandhi is scheduled to address a public meeting here tomorrow.
Mr Anbazhagan said the PWD, Electricity, Local Administration and Health Department were pressed into service to set up the stage and to provide all facilities at the Ouppalam Thidal, where Ms Gandhi is to address the meeting and alleged that this act of the Government was a violation of the model code.
Work for roads and power supply for the public are stopped here citing elections, he alleged.
The five year Congress Government was an 'anti-people' Government and the DMK was also supporting it, he alleged.
Mr Anbazhagan said DMK President Karunanidhi had ignored the sentiments of the party caders in Pondicherry with only intention that none should share power in Tamil Nadu, if the front was elected.
He said AICC Secretary B K Hariprasad yesterday said that a single party rule will be formed in Pondicherry and the Congress would form the Government with the outside support of the alliance partners.
The DMK cadres and people should think twice before exercising their franchise in favour of N Rangasamy Government, he added.
