Union Minister demands PM make a statement on Telangana
Hyderabad, Apr 23 (UNI) Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) senior leader and Union Minister of State for Rural Development A Narendra today demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh make a statement on Telangana statehood during the Parliament session scheduled to be held from May 10.
Addressing a press conference here, he pointed out that the BJP has already announced its stand on Telangana expressing support to the Bill if the government introduced it in Parliament.
The Congress should also make a statement on Telangana during the Parliament session, he added.
Alleging that the Congress led UPA government has not made a statement on Telangana despite the TRS, a coalittion partner of UPA, exerting pressure on it since UPA came to power, Mr Narendra has charged that the Congress was not in a position to announce its stand even as the other political parties have made statements supporting Telangana at national level.
He said 'there was no meaning' in the Congress criticising the BJP on the Telangana issue.
