Three terrorists killed in encounter

Jammu, Apr 23 (UNI) Three commanders of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) were killed in different encounters in the Jammu region today.

A Defence spokesman said 59 Rashtriya Rifle acting on a tip-off launched a search operation and cordoned off the area where the terrorists were hiding. The terrorists started firing on the army team, injuring officer Major Prashant Salia. In the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were killed.

They were indentified as LeT group commander Abu Majid, alias Abu Samama, a resident of Pagheal, and Nazir Ahmed, alias Jehangir, of HM, a resident of Nihoch.

In another incident, a district area commander of HM was killed in an encounter with security forces in Shireskhi village, 15 km from here, early today.
