Three HP towns get Rs 47 crore under UIDSSMT
Hamirpur, Apr 23 (UNI) The Centre has sanctioned a sum of Rs 47 crore to give a face lift and improve the civic conditions of Hamirpur, Mandi and Dharamshala towns of Himachal Pradesh, official sources today said.
The project, sanctioned under the Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT), would have to be completed within seven years.
The sources said out of the total sanctioned amount, Hamirpur town would get a sum of Rs 18 crore and for this purpose estimates have already been prepared.
HIMUDA (Himachal Urban Development Authority) would undertake the face lift work once the money was received from the union government, the sources said.
Under the plan formulated for the Hamirpur town, the money would be utilised for the repairs and strengthening of drainage system, development of parking lots and commercial establishments, prevention of soil erosion, preservation of old water bodies, development of second phase of solid waste management system of the town and re-development of old city areas of the town.
While water supply pipes in the town would also be completely replaced, a new multi storied shopping complex would also be developed opposite the main bus stand here, the sources added.
