Sonia to address UDF rally Apr 24

Kozhikode, Apr 23 (UNI) To enthuse the United Democratic Front (UDF) rank and file, demoralised by a string of adverse pre-poll surveys, Congress President Sonia Gandhi will address an election rally at Kozhikode Beach tomorrow.

Ms Gandhi, reaching here by a helicopter after conclusion of her electioneering in the neighbouring district of Kannur, will address a huge gathering of UDF activists at a specially erected podium amid tight security, District Congress Committee sources today said.

She would introduce all the UDF candidates from Kozhikode, Malappuram and Wayanad district, they added.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Pradesh Congress Committee President Ramesh Chennithala, Former Chief Minister A K Antony and CWC Member Incharge of Kerala Veerappa Moily would also be present.

Ms Gandhi, who would be staying back for the night, would take a flight from the nearby Karippur Airport to Chennai the next morning, the sources added.
