Software exports up by 34.54 per cent: ESC

New Delhi, Apr 23: The computer software and service exports from India is estimated to have grown by 34.54 per cent to Rs 104,000 crore during 2005-06 as compared to the previous years' figure of Rs 77,300 crore.

This was declared by the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) in a release issued here today.

''We are happy that the estimated export for 2005-06 has overshot the set target and there is an overall buoyancy in the exports as has been show on the performance results released by major software and ITes companies in the country,'' ESC Executive Director D K Sareen.

The target set for the year was Rs 100,000 crore.

According to ESC's estimates, the rate of growth in exports of computer software and Information Technology enabled services (ITes) achieved in the year 2005-06 over 2004-05 at 34.54 per cent is more or less the same as that in the previous year (2004-05 over 2003-04) despite the higher base.
