Snow and rain in higher reaches of HP
Shimla, Apr 23 (UNI) The high altitude areas of the tribal districts of Kinnuar, Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu and Chamba of Himachal Pradesh are experiencing a fresh spell of mild intermittent snowfall, while light rain lashed the lower areas of the districts this afternoon.
Keylong, the district headquarters of Lahaul-Spiti, and other higher hills had received about two inches of snowfall till 1600 hrs, while light showers lashed the lower areas of the district.
Official sources said the snow began at about 1400 hrs and was being experienced at the high altitude areas only, plummeting temperatures in the district.
Baralacha Pass and Lady of Keylong and other mountain peaks, Petsio and Kibber village, the highest village of the world situated at an altitude of 16,000 feet, were also experiencing snowfall in the district.
The 13,050 feet-high Rohtang Pass was also receiving snowfall, hampering the snow-clearing work on the Manali-Leh road.
Reckong Peo in Kinnuar district was also experienced mild snowfall in higher hills, which were engulfed under a thick cover of fog.
Pangi Valley and Bharmaour area of Chamba district also experienced mild snowfall, while the lower areas of the districts were lashed by light showers.
