Preparations begin for Mahajan's operation tomorrow

Mumbai, Apr 23 (UNI) Preparations for a major operation of senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, grievously wounded in gunfire by his younger brother yesterday morning, got under way in Hinduja hospital here tonight with doctors having tackled a minor complication of water infusion in his wounded abdomen.

After a minor operation, the 56-year-old general secretary of the party was wheeled back into the intensive care unit, ahead of surgery tomorrow by a team of Indian and British doctors.

Minutes after TV news channels flashed reports about the operation about an emergency operation relating to malfunctioning of his kidneys, BJP national spokesperson Prakesh Jawadekar came rushing out of the hospital asking media not to speculate. He said, '' Mr Mhahjan was wheeled into the operation theatre for a minor operation, which was needed to stabilise his condition '' for surgery tomorrow.

Earlier, hospital spokesperson Dr Anupam Verma had stated that Indian and British doctors will operate upon Mr Mahajan tomorrow because his condition continues to be '' critical''. He said decision to operate was aimed at removing packs from his body which were put to contain bleeding from lever.
