People dissatisfied with AIADMK, DMK: BJP leader
Chennai, Apr 23 (UNI) BJP Vice President Venkaiah Naidu today said he would commence his campaigning for the BJP front candidates from Madurai tomorrow for the May 8 elections to Tamil Nadu assembly.
Talking to reporters at the airport here on his arrival from Bangalore, Mr Naidu said former Deputy Prime Minister and senior party leader Mr L K Advani will also undertake a brief campaign at Hosur and Thali (Reserve) constituencies. The schedule of his visit was yet to be finalised.
He said party leaders like Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi will also visit Tamil Nadu to intensify the campaign from April 26 to 28.
Mr Naidu alleged that the people were dissatisfied with the ruling AIADMK due to its ''misdeeds'' in the last five years and with the DMK which is a partner of the Congress led UPA Government at the Centre.
''But the BJP did not have such disadvatage,'' he claimed and hoped that the outcome of the May 8 poll would be favourable for BJP.
When a reporter drew to his attention to the reported remark of Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa that the AIADMK government had detained Marumlarchi DMK General Secretary Vaiko under POTA which was enacted by the erstwhile NDA government at the Centre, Mr Naidu said the NDA Government had only promulgated POTA to maintain internal security of the entire country, not just for Tamil Nadu state.
He said it was the responsibility of the State Government to evoke the act in this persepective, but not misuse it against anybody.
The AIADMK Government had misused the act and the NDA Government had nothing to do with that, he claimed.
To a question on the condition of the party General Secretary Pramod Mahajan who was critically wounded, Mr Naidu said doctors attending on Mr Mahajan had said that his condition was improving.
''We will also pray for his speedy recovery'', he said.
