Opinion polls opinionated, says DMK Chief

Madurai, Apr 23 (UNI) Dismissing the latest opinion poll survey, predicting a close contest between the DMK-led DPA and the DPA headed by the ruling AIADMK as 'opinionated,' DMK President M Karunanidhi today said his alliance was confident of emerging victorious.

''Opinion polls are opinionated,'' he told newspersons here, reacting to the recent survey by a premier private college on the May eight Assembly polls.

The survey has given only a 4.4 per cent lead to the DMK over the AIADMK. Even this would get neutralised if the margin of error was taken into account.

To a question, he said Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, who charged the opposition with hatching a conspiracy to postpone the elections, had gone silent following the condemnation it elicited from the DMK and its allies.

Before proceeding for the election campaign, the Dravidian patriarch said he would undertake a joint campaign with Congress President Sonia Gandhi during her election tour of Tamil Nadu this week.
