Nitish govt insults relatives of freedom fighter : Ramvilas
Patna, Apr 23 (UNI) LJP chief and Union steel and fertiliser minister Ram Vilas Paswan today alleged the Nitish Kumar government had insulted the family members of veteran freedom fighter Suraj Narain Singh by evicting them from the government quarters in Patna.
Addressing a function here to mark the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Veer Kunwar Singh, Mr Paswan charged the NDA government with humiliating relatives of Suraj Narain Singh, who dedicated his life for freedom of India.
''It is shameful that relatives of Mr Singh are forced to live under open sky due to draconian step of NDA government'', Mr Paswan added.
He asked the Nitish government to provide accommodation to the affected relatives immediately otherwise he would lead an agitation for restoration of their house.
Relatives of Mr Singh were living in the government quarters for the last 33 years and it was alloted to Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) creating circumstances of eviction, he added.
''What was the urgency to allot the said accommodation to the NCP for the office purpose'', he asked adding that it was a sinister design to create a rift among the UPA.
Later talking to mediapersons, he said the Nitish government was only making tall claims while ground realities had not changed during its four months rule.
To another question he said that price of fertlisers had not increased since he became fertliser minister adding the subsidy on the fertiliser would continue to safeguard the interest of the farmers.
