Naxal ideology violent: Advani

Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Apr 23 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani today said lessons should be learnt from the history of naxalism so that mistakes are not repeated in future.

Describing the naxal menace as the biggest problem being faced by the country, Mr Advani stressed on the need for understanding the roots and history of naxalism.

He told reporters here that the Congress can obtain immediate benefit in polls by appeasing naxals. However, it will have long-term adverse consequences.

Mr Advani said naxalism ideology has been responsible for several massacres and violent incidents in the 20th century.

The history of Stalin rule in the erstwhile USSR, Mao rule in China, and Polapat's regime in Cambodia is replete with several massacres, he added.
