MP Cong to ask EC to cancel Budhni bypoll

Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, Apr 23 (UNI) A Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee delegation will submit a memorandum to the Election Commission, tomorrow, demanding Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's dismissal and cancellation of the May 3 Budhni assembly bypoll.

''The chief minister, who is also the BJP candidate, is openly violating the model code of conduct,'' State Congress President Subhash Yadav told mediapersons here today.

Claiming that his party complained to the EC even earlier, the leader added that Sehore district's collector and police superintendent were removed in that context.

''The bureaucrat duo must be dismissed from service and a departmental inquiry initiated against them. Mere transfers cannot be considered as punishment. Along with MP J P Agrawal and Mr Nandi Elaiyya, who were appointed observers by the All-India Congress Committee, I will submit the memo that also seeks to declare Mr Chouhan ineligible as a candidate,'' he explained.
