Mahajan stable but still critical after second surgery
Mumbai, Apr 23 (UNI) After emergency surgery on senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan here tonight, Hinduja hospital announced that he was now stable but still critical.
A team of British and Indian surgeons removed packs from his shattered lever, containing bleeding which had been the cause of worry since first surgery carried out yesterday immediately after he was grievously wounded in gunfire by his younger brother Pravin.
Hinduja hospital director (Administration) Dr Anupam Verma told reporters the surgery planned for tomorrow had to be ''preponed because his vital parameters became unstable this evening.'' He said vital parameters have improved after the second surgery.
''Mr Mahajan is still on ventilator ... there is no active bleeding(now) from the lever... Packs in the lever have been removed.'' Due to the advancement of the surgery, the purpose for which tomorrow's surgery had been planned has been accomplished, Dr Verma added.
