Mahajan operated upon, surgery successful

Mumbai, Apr 23 (UNI) BJP leader Pramod Mahajan has been operated upon and the surgery has been successful, party spokesman Prakash Javadekar said.

However, the details of the surgery will be provided in the medical bulletin which will soon be issued.

This was the second operation on Mr Mahajan since yesterday when he was admitted to the Hinduja Hospital. He was shot from point blank range by his younger brother Pravin Mahajan at his residence yesterday morning.

According to reports, Mr Mahajan was operated upon to remove fluids from the abdomen and packs from the liver which were placed to contain the bleeding.

Earlier, Mr Javdekar had said there was nothing to panic and the surgery this evening was performed because doctors who are monitoring Mr Mahajan's health condition thought it fit to perform the same today itself.
