India to set up a science centre with German help
Hannover, Apr 23 (UNI) India will set up a science centre with German help and expertise for research in modern technology.
Disclosing this, Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal, who is accompanying Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on a three-day visit to Germany, said the centre will have 20 per cent equity from India and a matching equity from Germany. The rest of the funding would come from the Industry.
The minister also admitted that there was a lot more scope for German investment in India which has slowed down in the recent years even as the bilateral trade has witnessed phenomenal growth. The current bilateral trade level is 7.6 billion Euros and is expected to touch 10 billion by 2008.
Mr Sibal said that India will seek liberalised visa regime for professionals and entrepreneurs. There are some problems in visa system and the Indian government favours liberal regime.
