India is the flavour of the year in Germany

Hannover, Apr 23 (UNI) India is the flavour of the year in Germany. India is not only the partner country in the Hannover Fair, the largest technology trade exhibition in the world, but will also be the focus country at the "Biennale Bonn", a cultural fiesta to be staged in Bonn from May 13-21, and the guest of honour country at the Frankfurt Book Fair, to be held from October 4-8.

India officials are excited that Germany chose India to be the partner country for the Hannover Fair after 22 years. ''Germany is synonymous with industry and efficiency and India has emerged as a major economic power on the world stage. The time is ripe for synergy between the two economic giants,'' an official remarked.

The 'Biennale Bonn' will present 12 theatre companies, 5 dance performers, 1 opera, 4 readings, 5 concerts and 3 DJ-sets. Moreover, 5 exhibitors in cooperation with museums will examine the subject of India, as well as 2 podium discussions and a two-day symposium in cooperation with the University of Bonn.

A curtain-raiser to the Frankfurt Book Fair was held at the Leipzig Fair from March 16-19. Several top Indian authors presented readings of their works at the Leipzig Fair.

It is likely that India would be the partner country at the International Tourism Fair in Berlin in 2007.
