Highlighting her poll straltegy Ms Chandralekha said, ''As a former IAS officer, I have the experience and knowledge on how to run a government and solve the people's problems. It would be my priority protect the rights of people and ensure the laws being implemented strictly. I will effectively represent the people of Mylapore, address their grievances by drawing up schemes and implementing them.'' Commenting on the impact of Kanchi Acharya's arrest on the elections, she said the Supreme court has come down heavily about the handling of the case. It has said there was no prima facie case, while passing orders on the bail petition filed by the Seer. ''If this kind of violation of fundamental right can happen to an influential person and a head of a religious instituion, imagine the plight of the common man. The public has become powerless to fight against the State dictatorship. There is a strong undercurrent.

People are upset which will definitely reflect in the elections.'' she added.

As a campaign strategy, the former bureaucrat plans to indulge in door-to-door campaign, create awareness among the people and convincing them to vote for her.

Assessing the five year AIADMK rule of Ms Jayalalithaa as ''zero'' she said basically was is no developmental activities in the State. Towards the end she came up with a lot of schemes to lure the people. Several concessions, withdrawn earlier, were returned.

Dismissing the DMK's promise of providing free colour TVs as baseless, she said ''If the DMK gives free TV and even cable connection, will the people living below the poverty line be able to pay the monthly subscription of Rs 100.'' Scoffing at the DMK and AIADMK's promise of offering rice at Rs two a kg 10 kg free rice Ms Chandralekha said ''In 1967, the DMK came to power by promising three measures of rice for one rupee. It managed only one third of it. It was implemented only in Coimbatore and Madras that too not for full five years. The scheme was dropped after one year. '' She further added, '' Why did not Mr Karunanidhi implement it when he was in power from 1996 to 2001. Now he is not the Chief Minister. Now he is part of the Central government. Why did he not help the people of Tamil Nadu by providing Rs 2 a kg rice with the help of Union Government.'' UNI GV VV SB RK1235
