Govt spends Rs 1200 crore on free power to farmers: AP CM
Tirupati, Apr 23 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Government was spending Rs 1200 crore per annum for maintaining seven hours free power to farmers in the State, Chief Minister Y S Rajashekara Reddy said today.
Addressing a public meeting at Irala in Chittoor district, as part of Praja Patham, Dr Reddy said the Government would allot Rs 3,000 crore loans to Self-Help Groups(SHG) this year, compared to Rs 2,000 crore loans last year.
In Chitoor district 4,45,000 persons had enrolled their names under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), he said.
The distribution of ration cards would be completed in the villages on May 15, he added.
