Eventful front nine puts Chopra on tied 44th position

Houston, Apr 23 (UNI) Daniel Chopra stayed largely on the safer side scoring pars before getting into some groove on the front nine to return a decent one-under 71 card for a tied 44th position after the penultimate round of the 5.3 million-dollar Shell Houston Open here.

With one more round to go, Chopra is aggregating two under 214 and is 12 shot off the leader Stuart Appleby of Australia.

Starting from the 10th hole, Chopra played defensively and had a no-loss no-gain back nine.

However, the turn saw a turn around in the events as Chopra began with a birdie on the first hole. He dropped a bogey on the third but gained another stroke on the fifth.

Earlier, after a horrendous first round of two over 74, Chopra did well to make the cut with a three under 69 in the second.
