Chennai, Apr 23 (UNI) DMK President M Karunanidhi, heading the Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) in the state, has convened a meeting of its allies on April 25 to discuss Cauvery crisis in the wake of Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal's split verdict on the issue.

In a statement here today, he said the Tribunal's directive had come as a disappointment to the people of Tamil Nadu, who were expecting a favourable verdict on the issue by August this year.

Stating the DPA meeting would be held at DMK headquarters 'Anna Arivalayam' here, he appealed to the leaders of alliance parties to take part without fail.

The DPA comprises DMK, Congress, Pattali Makkal Katchi, CPI, CPI(M) and the Indian Union Muslim League.

The Tribunal's order, passed by a 2:1 majority, to constitute a three-member committee to go into the crop pattern and water requirements of the four riparian states, was expected to prolong the solution to the vexed Cauvery problem.
