Diya Mirza defends Aamir Khan on Narmada issue

Rajkot, Apr 23 (UNI) Film actress Diya Mirza today strongly defended actor Aamir Khan on the Narmada Dam issue saying the latter was not against the project but has supported NBA activist Medha Patkar on the issue of rehabilitating the displaced farmers.

Ms Mirza, addressing a press conference here this evening, strongly defended Aamir Khan on the issue and said she supported him on the vexed issue.

Ms Mirza, along with Sunidhi Chauhan and Sukhvinder Singh, was here to attend the Musical Night organised by the city police to raise funds for a community hall.

Ms Patkar has called for a halt to raising the dam's height as several thousands people have been displaced and the rehabilitation process has failed. The Supreme Court has rejected the plea for stopping the work on raising the height of the dam from 110.64 meters to 121.92 meters.
