While sales and marketing bagged the second position among employment generating sectors snatching it from the finance sector, the boom in the infrastructure development and construction activities gave engineering the third position.

Advertisements in newspapers in major cities indicated that engineering firms sought to fill up as many as 1,050 vacancies which was 17 per cent of total jobs advertised, most of these being in the civil engineering sector.

Finance which enjoyed the second place in the previous study, slipped to fourth position this time with a share of 11 per cent in the total tracked job offerings. Mumbai was the largest job provider in this sector with 220 vacancies.

Bangalore, maintained its position as third best job city, recording 19 per cent of the total placement tracked. The city lived up to its name of being the IT Hub of India and created maximum opportunities in the high-end IT jobs. As many as 365 jobs openings (69 per cent) were recorded in the IT sector.

Chennai also reaffirmed its fourth position with 623 employment offers.

IT and IT enabled sector had a major share of 32 per cent with 197 offerings, closely followed by engineering with 185 positions to be filled, 30 per cent of total vacancies.
