Congress has betrayed people of West Bengal : Advani

Kolkata, Apr 23 (UNI) BJP senior leader L K Advani today charged the Congress with betraying people of West Bengal and called upon the people to utilise opportunities provided by the Election Commission for free and fair polls.

He said the Congress had betrayed the wishes of the people of the state to forge an anti-Left Front poll alliance so that electors could change three decades of continuous ruling of the Communists.

Mr Advani lauded the EC for carrying out free and fair elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar and now in two phases in the state.

He said the continuation of the Left Front regime did not mean a good governance in West Bengal as Bihar also had 15 years of one party government, that destroyed the state's economy.

He called upon the people to grab the opportunity by the conduct of free and fair polling and bring down the 30 years ruling of the Left Front.

He was addressing a 'Meet the Press' programme here before electioneering for the BJP and Trinamool candidates.
