Bengal gave 84 per cent vote in second phase election
Kolkata, Apr 23 (UNI) Altogeher 84 per cent of voters out of a total 11.2 million electorate exercised their franchise in four districts of West Bengal in second phase of polling yesterday.
State Chief Electoral Officer Debashis Sen today said acccording to final estimate, East Midnapur recored highest polling at 90 per cent, 82 per cent votes were polled in Hooghly, 88 per cent in Nadia and 77 per cent in Howrah district.
Mr Sen said altogether 6289 booths out of total 12,299 polling stations recorded polling of 85 per cent or more than that.
However, the Election Commission did not order any repolling in any of these booths.
The second phase included 66 assembly constituencies had the second phase polling.
