Army's new access network to become functional tomorrow
New Delhi, Apr 23 (UNI) The Army's Delhi Zone Access Network (DZAN), considered as the mother of all such facilities, will become operational tomorrow.
DZAN will usher in an era of real time information exchange and will take a step further in the transformation of the present day platform-centric Indian Army towards being a network-enabled force.
The network will be inaugurated by Gen J J Singh, Chief of the Army Staff, an official press note said today.
In its quest for making the Indian Army a network enabled force, the Corps of Signals, has embarked upon a path of rolling out world class networks which will equip the Indian Army with the where-withal to fight the future wars in a digitized battle space.
Besides rolling out numerous networks based on broadband Satellites and Optical Fibres with countrywide reach, the Corps is also laying out Access networks at various Military Stations.
DZAN is a high capacity, fully redundant, secure, and ultra modern state-of-the-art network based on several nodes interconnected in a mesh topology with high capacity optical fibre links.
These nodes are located across the length and breadth of the National Capital for providing multiple services to various users of the Army. The network is integrated to all the National Networks of the Army in a seamless manner.
The Network design is unique and is being implemented for the first time in the country to seamlessly integrate various networks and facilities which will enable consolidation of all communication assets.
This network will also implement Digital Local Loops for the first time thus obviating the need of long copper cables across the city. The Network is based on non-emitting media (OFC) and provides the necessary security.
