AP Govt grants Rs 2 cr for varsity buildings

Machilipatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Apr 23: The Andhra Pradesh Government has sanctioned Rs two crore for construction of buildings at Potti Sriramulu Telugu University in Hyderabad, according to Minister for Higher Education P Venkateswara Rao.

Addressing a meeting here today, Mr Rao also said the government had taken all steps to develop the Kuchipudi dance which was special to the Telugus.

Potti Sriramulu University Vice Chancellor Acharya A Manjulatha said the university was planning to introduce a diploma course in Carnatic music during the academic year 2006-2007 at Siddhendra Kalakshetram.

A modern museum will be set up at Kuchipudi showing traditional and ancient Kuchipudi dance costumes, jewellery, literary and dance books and sculptures.
