All booths to be manned by armed forces in by-poll in Patna

Patna, Apr 23 (UNI) Armed forces would man all 531 polling booths under the Patna West Assembly constituency, which will go to the by-polls tomorrow.

Nitin Navin ( BJP) Ajay Kumar ( Congress), three candidates of other registered parties and eight Independents are in the fray for the by-election necessitated by the death of Navin Kishore Prasad Sinha, who represented the constituency.

Patna District Magistrate B Rajendra here today said 433 polling booths had been identified as hyper-sensitive.

He said Central Para-Mililtary Force jawans would also be stationed in certain polling booths.

Patna Police Superintendent Kundan Krishnan said plying of boats under Patna (West) constituency in the Ganga river has been banned tomorrow.

Altogether 5,12,506 voters, inclduing 2,20,438 female voters, would decide the political fate of 13 candidates trying their luck in Patna West segment.

The vote would start from 0700 hrs and end at 1700 hrs. A total of 584 EVMs have been arranged for the polling.
