300 private engineering college students on hunger strike

Durgapur, Apr 23 (UNI) At least 300 students of a private engineering college, Bengal College of Engineering and Technology, began hunger-strike from this moring to protest the hike of hostel charges by Rs 3,000.

Student's of the college said here today that suddenly the hostel fees for six months had been raised by Rs 3,000 and they would not accept it.

''We have become victims of whimsical decions of the college authorities. We will not accept it,'' the students said.

The college principal B K Pal said,''We will talk to the students and request them to accept the newly declared hostel fees.'' UNI XC JYN DB1919
