13 killed, 29 injured in 2 separate road accidents

Aurangabad/Nashik, Apr 22 (UNI) At least thirteen people were killed and 29 injured in two separate road accidents, involving marriage parties, in Maharashtra today.

Six persons, including two women and two children, were kiled and 22 injured when a tempo carrying a marriage party, collided head-on with another tempo near Vaijapur town of Aurangabad district late this evening.

Talking to UNI over telephone from the accident site, senior police inspector (Aurangabad-Rural) Balaji Sontakke said that the tempo, carrying the marriage party, had started from Niphad, a tehsil town of neighbouring Nashik district. It was on its way to Jategaon in Vaijapur tehsil, when the mishap occurred at around 2200 hrs.

The seriously injured have been admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) while the rest have been referred to the nearby government hospitals.

The second accident, which occurred in Sinnar taluka of Nashik district, claimed seven lives while leaving an equal number injured.

The groom was among the deceased while the bride was among the injured, police said. The victims were travelling in a van which collided with a dumper, police said.

The injured have been admitted to the nearest hospital and their condition is stated to be serious.
