YSR promises to double loan amounts to SHGs
Nalgonda (Andhra Pradesh), Apr 22: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today promised to double the loan amount those women's self-help groups (SHGs) which promptly repaid loans.
Addressing a gathering in Madhavaram village of this district as part of his ongoing 'Prajapadham' programme, the Chief Minister narrated how his government was continuing to provide free electricity to the farmers despite energy shortages in the state, by buying power from other states.
Some women complained to Dr Reddy that authorities had given ration cards other than 'Anthyodaya,' though they were eligible to receive them.
The Chief Minister examined the cards and directed the MRO present to examine their claim and issue the Anthyodaya cards if they were found eligible.
Later, Dr Reddy inaugurated a scheme to provide safe drinking water from River Krishna to 12 villages.
Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy, State Home Minister K Jana Reddy, several, MPs, MLAs and other dignitaries took part in the function.
