SPMVV women's varsity to start engineering college

Tirupati, Apr 22 (UNI) The ''four star'' accredited Sri Padmavathi Mahila Visva Vidyalayam (SPMVV), will start an engineering college exclusively for women in the academic year 2006-07.

The college, the first of its kind for girls, will have four engineering courses, B Tech in computer engineering, B Tech in electronics and communication, B Tech in information technology and B Tech in industrial biotechnology, women's varsity vice-chancellor Veena Noble Dass told UNI.

Ms Dass said each engineering course would have an intake of 60 as per All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE) norms.

Admission to the courses would be through EAMCET, she added.

She said SPMVV had also introduced 13 new courses including three specialised courses in Business Management-MBA in entrepreneurship and technology, MBA in financial accounting and planning, MBA in international business for the academic year 2006-07.

The varsity was reconstituted into 15 schools from the existing six schools.

Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLISC), five-year Bachelor course in law, PG diploma in theatre arts (one-year duration), Bachelor of performing arts with Kuchipudi as specialisation, BFA (Sculpture and temple architecture), BFA (painting and photography), MA in applied sociology and a certificate course in women folklorists were other notable courses.
