Retrial of Libya HIV case set for May 11

SOFIA, Apr 22 (Reuters) A Libyan court will open a new trial on May 11 against six foreign medical staff accused of deliberately infecting over 400 Libyan children with the HIV virus, the Bulgarian foreign ministry said today.

''The retrial will be on May 11 in Tripoli. We have an official confirmation by the Libyan authorities,'' said Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Dimitar Tsanchev.

Libya's Supreme Court scrapped the death sentences against the five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor in December last year.
