Regulation at working hours for women must: Civil organisation
Imphal, Apr 22 (UNI) Various women's bodies and civil organisations have demanded that the working hours for sales women and domestic helps should be regulated by the Government.
Federation of Regional Indigenous Society's Friend President S Jadumani said working women should not be given duty hours beyond 5.30 pm in summer and 4.30 pm in winter in the state.
He alleged that women were often forced to work till 8 pm.
A large numbers of young girls work as domestic helps and sales women, who were paid Rs 500 to 2000 as salary, and forced to work for long hours.
Meanwhile, women bodies have announced that they would survey how the young girls were employed in the market areas.
It may be noted that the state labour department had forced closure of shops in Imphal areas once in a week for the interest of the workers.
