Rajender to campaign for DMK front
Chennai, Apr 22 (UNI) Actor-Director Politician Vijaya T Rajender, who pledged suppport to the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) after he was shunned by the AIADMK, would undertake 13-day state-wide electioneering in support of the DMK and its allies for the May eight Assembly elections.
A release from DMK headquarters here said Mr Rajender, President, Latchiya DMK (LDMK), would launch his campaign here on April 24 and wind up his whirlwind tour in Vellore district on May six.
After covering six constituencies in the city, the former DMK propoganda secretary would fly to Thiruvananthapuram to cover other districts from the southern Kanniyakumari district.
Mr Rajender, who had been supporting the AIADMK for the past two years, shifted his loyalty after he was denied a berth in the AIADMK-led front.
Declaring DMK President M Karunanidhi as his 'Political Guru', Mr Rajender offered to support the DMK-led front and campaign for the victory of DPA candidates.
His party would support DPA candidates in all but 11 seats, where the party had fielded candidates. Mr Rajender himself is contesting from his home town Mayiladuthaurai.
