Prohibitory orders after communal tension

Pithora, Chhatisgarh, Apr 22 (UNI) Prohibitory orders under section 144 was imposed in this town following tension after a nagar panchayat member was stabbed to death this morning.

Police said Hira Nishad was killed near bus stand at around 1100 hours.

Communal tension ensued after a group of people attacked shop and residence of the accused, who belonged to another community.

Police personnel were deployed to maintain law and order in the town where people had resorted to road blockade, demanding immediate arrest of the accused.

Meanwhile, state Chief Minister Raman Singh has appealed to people to maintain peace. He assured that all those involved in the crime would be brought to book.
