Police officer, 2 criminals killed in encounter

Badaun, Apr 22 (UNI) An Uttar Pradesh Police officer and two criminals were killed in an encounter under Dhanadi area of the district today.

Police said Dhanadi Station Officer (SO) S K Singh Yadav died of serious bullet wounds sustained in the cross firing in the wee hours at Jairamnagar village.

The deceased criminals were identified as Ali Jaan of Moradabad and Harvir Yadav of Badaun districts.

Firearms, live cartridges and a motorcycle without number plate were recovered from the spot.

Meanwhile, the state government announced Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia to the slain SO's kin and job to his dependent within two months.
