PMK dismisses three functionaries
Chennai, Apr 22 (UNI) The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) today dimissed three of its functionaries, including Edapadi MLA I Ganesan, from primary membership of the party for indulging in ''indisciplined activities.'' In a statement here PMK General Secretary T S Mookaiah said Mr Ganesan, Edapadi Town Secretary A Senguttuvan and Town President M D Ramesh had been removed from the party for working against the official PMK candidate in Edapadi constituency and bringing disrepute to the party.
The trio had been removed from the party with the approval of PMK founder S Ramadoss and no partymen should have no links with them, he said.
Mr Ganesan, who had been elected from the constituency four times, was denied a ticket this time on the ground of giving a chance to a new face.
Protesting, he filed his nomination as an independent, prompting the party high command to initiate action against him.
Mr Ganesan represented Edapadi twice as an AIADMK MLA during the period of late Chief Minister M G Ramachandran.
Later, he joined the PMK and was elected from Edapadi in the 1996 and 2001 Assembly elections.
