No political party can speculate Assembly results : Alva
Kolkata, Apr 27 (UNI) AICC general secretary and West Bengal observer Margaret Alva today said the political parties should not speculate results of Assembly polls because of the heavy turnout this time.
Talking to newsmen, Ms Alva said, ''It's difficult to predict the results this time because of the higher voter turnout under the strict vigil of Election Commission.'' She also appreciated Opposition Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee's relentless fight against the Left Front.
She said, ''Mamata was a real alternative but alliance with the Congress was not possible due to her decision.'' ''We requested her several times before the Assembly polls to severe ties with the NDA and to form an alliance under her leadership but she was determined not to quit the NDA. The Congress have an ideology that it will not tie up with any communal forces,'' she added.
Referring to a query, Congress leader Salman Khurshid said, ''We are expecting a Congress-led coalition government in Asom.'' UNI AKM SP/TJP VJ PM1950
