NJP withdraws candidates to support Congress

Pondicherry, Apr 22 (UNI) The New Justice Party (NJP) today withdrew it's candidates from contesting the May three and eight Assembly elections here to support the Congress-led combine.

NJP President Ponnurangam told newsmen the party withdrew all the three candidates from the contest on request from Chief Minister and decided to support the Congress combine.

The party had fielded candidates at Cassicade, Muthialpet and Thattanchavady constituencies.

In a similar move, the Pondicherry Padaippali Makkal Katchi (PPMK) also withdrew it's candidates in suport of the Congress.

In a release, Party President Thangam said the party withdrew it's candidate from Cassicade in support of the Congress candidate Ravichandran.

In Reddiyarpalayam constituency, it will support CPI candidate R Viswanathan.
