Motor racing-Schumacher earns record 66th pole postion

IMOLA, Italy, Apr 22 (Reuters) Michael Schumacher seized a record pole position today in front of Ferrari's home fans at the San Marino Grand Prix.

The 66th pole of the German's extraordinary career allowed the Ferrari driver to overtake the late Brazilian champion Ayrton Senna in the Formula One record books.

Briton Jenson Button, driving a Honda, will start on the front row alongside him. Renault's world champion Fernando Alonso could qualify only fifth.
