MCX up 50.12 pts with weekly turnover of Rs 51,856.66 cr

Mumbai, Apr 22 (UNI) The week saw multi-commodity exchange (MCX) record the highest daily turnover of Rs 17,987.65 crore single sides on April 20, at the close of trading hours.

The previous highest turnover recorded was Rs 16,042.27 crore single sides on April 19, at the close of trading hours.

Meanwhile, the MCX index was up 50.12 points during the course of the week; while MCX recorded a total weekly turnover of Rs 51,856.66 crores from April 15 to 20.

The MCX metal index was down 22.49 points while its energy Index was up 137.25 points. Its agri Index was also up by 35.61 points.

MCX silver (May-06) has recorded a turnover of Rs 22,422.72 crores while gold (June-06) registered a turnover of Rs 21,515.97 crores. The outstanding position for silver for the week was 4,00,540 kg. The outstanding open interest for gold was 10,806 kg. In the metal segment, copper (April-06) registered a turnover of Rs 2,079.09 crores with open interest of 6,366 tonnes; while zinc (April-06) recorded a turnover of Rs 1,684.17 crores, with open interest of 9,815 tonnes. In the energy segment, crude oil (May-06) contracts showed a turnover of Rs 1,767.01 crores with open interest of 5,13,800 BBL.

Turnover of some of the major pulses traded on the MCX was: Urad (May-06) registered a turnover of Rs 485.51 crores with open interest of 18,070 tonnes, chana (May-06) recorded a turnover of Rs 196.72 crores with open interest of 17,580 tonnes, masur (May-06) with open interest of 10,320 tonnes registered a turnover of Rs 139.38 crores, while tur (May-06) recorded a turnover of Rs 132.71 crores, with open interest of 3,710 tonnes.

Some of the other major commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover - mentha oil (April-06) registered a turnover of Rs 233.27 crores with open interest of 33,91,920 kg, refined soya oil (May-06) with open interest of 22,150 tonnes registered a turnover of Rs 511.89 crores while potato (June-06) registered a turnover of Rs 121.22 crores, with open interest of 77,190 tonnes.
