Markets to track Q4 results and derivatives' expiry

Mumbai, Apr 22 (UNI) The fourth quarter (Q4) results and foreign institutional investors' (FIIs) response will guide the movement of key indices in the stock markets next week.

Buoyed up by the good Q4 results, the BSE Sensitive Index (Sensex) went past 12,000 mark this week and next week will be equally critical with important results lined up.

Important results to come up next week are Asea Brown Boveri (ABB), Cipla, MTNL (April 25), Siemens (April 26), BPCL (April 27) and GAIL and Glaxo (April 28).

''However, volatility may remain high next week, ahead of expiry of April 2006 derivatives contracts. April contracts will expire on Thursday (April 27). The outstanding positions in the derivatives segment are large,'' an analyst said.

The foreign fund inflow in the domestic equity market came to a virtual stop last week with just Rs 2.80 crore inflow in the four sessions, which will keep the investors worried.

On Monday and Thursday, the FIIs were net buyers by Rs 477.80 crore but on Tuesday and Wednesday they were net sellers by Rs 475 crore.
