Lino gives Spain 1-0 Fed Cup lead over

VALENCIA, Spain, Apr 22 (Reuters) Debutant Lourdes Dominguez-Lino struck the first blow for Spain in their Fed Cup first-round tie against Austria, beating Sybille Bammer 7-6 3-6 6-3 today.

The Spaniard put in an aggressive display to take a scrappy first set including six breaks of serve, when Bammer double faulted to lose the tie break 7-5.

Austria's left-hander fought back to take the second set comfortably but was broken in the first game of the deciding set.

Dominguez-Lino held her serve to keep the pressure on Bammer who was finally broken again to put the five-times Fed Cup winners 1-0 up in the tie.

Later Anabel Medina Garrigues takes on Yvonne Meusburger in the second singles rubber.

The winner of the tie will play either France or Italy in the semi-finals in July.
