Jessica's father dies following brain stroke

New Delhi, Apr 22: A month after he suffered a brain haemorrhage, Ajit Kumar Lall, father of slain model Jessica Lall died of a brain stroke last night.

Family sources said the end came late last night.

Ajit Lall (76) had been undergoing treatment at Unkal Hospital in neighbouring Gurgaon (Haryana) since March 21 last when he suffered brain haemorrhage.

Later he was shifted to another hospital on March 30.

Mr Lall had not been keeping well ever since his wife passed away in 2000, a year after daughter model Jessica was shot dead at a posh South Delhi restaurant.

Jessica was allegedly shot dead by Manu Sharma, son of Haryana minister Vinod Sharma, after she refused to serve him a drink at a private party hosted by socialite Bina Ramani at her Tamarind Court restaurant on April 29, 1999.

A local court in Delhi, on February 21 this year, had acquitted all the nine accused in the case, including prime accused Manu Sharma, for lack of evidence, police inefficiency and backtracking of witnesses.
