Jeev tied 35th, Shiv tied 54th after pentultimate round
Shanghai, Apr 22 (UNI) Jeev Milkha Singh overcame early jitters to manage an even-par show to tie for the 35th place while compatriot Shiv Kapur's highly forgettable birdie-less, bogey-ridden four-over 76 had the rookie at tied 54th after the penultimate round of the 1.8 million dollar BMW Asian Open here today.
Meanwhile, Kolkata pro Rahil Gangjee was among the five players who did not resume their second round this morning which left only 37 players who completed their second rounds after lightning forced suspension of play at the Tomson Shanghai Pudong Golf Club yesterday.
The duo of Gaurav Ghei and Amandeep Johl earlier missed the cut with a two-day total of seven-over 151.
Winner of last week's China Open, Jeev started on the 10th hole and stumbled on bogeys on the 14th and 16th holes to take his halfway turn at 38 and levelled it with back-to-back birdies over the first two holes in his back nine. But he dropped a shot again on the sixth and signed off with a birdie to complete a level-par show that took his three-day tally to three-over 219.
On the other hand, nothing went right for Shiv Kapur and the Delhi golfer craved for a birdie but it never came.
A 10th tee starter like Jeev, Shiv dropped two bogeys in each nine to aggregate five-over 221.
Swede Henrik Stenson (210) clung onto his lead after carding one-under 71 to stay a stroke ahead of Spaniard Gonzalo Fdez-Castano who carded 69.
