Isolate Maoists in Nepal, says Advani
Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh, Apr 22 (UNI) Leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha L K Advani today urged the Centre to ensure that Maoists in Nepal are completely isolated while taking initiatives to solve crisis in the Himalayan Kingdom.
''This is necessary from the standpoint of tackling the naxal menace in our own country'', he said at a press conference here on the second day of his ' Bharat Suraksha Yatra' in Chhattisgarh.
Pointing out that political scene in Nepal was rapidly changing, he said King Gyanendra has announced that executive power would be restored to the political parties.
''In the context of our policy towards Nepal, we should take no step that would directly or indirectly benefit the Maoists', he said and cautioned that any such action would prove detrimental to our country's internal security.
Stating that it was a well known fact the Nepal Maoists have links with Naxalites in India, Mr Advani said Maoists were also trying to create a 'Red corridor'' from Nepal border to Andhra Pradesh.
Replying to a question, he said his party's policy on Nepal has been consistent. '' We are of the view that democracy and constitutional monarchy must continue in the Himalayan kingdom'', he added.
